You will discover some of the best kept secrets of the region: the mysterious smells conjured up by Izarra liqueur, the warm vermeil red of Espelette peppers, the vigorous colour of Irouléguy wine, the iridescent coat of the Banca trout, the story of Bayonne chocolate from it’s arrival in the 16th century to present, the rich history of Bayonne ham, the taste of gateau Basque, jams, cheeses and the sparkling tang of Sagarnoa cider...
Sometimes the path is narrow and steep, but the views are magnificent and forever changing. The blue sea, the warm colours enveloping the mountains, the wildflowers, terraced vineyards and grazing sheep dominating the surrounding fields, and in the distance the sound of a cattle bell drifts across the countryside.
At the end of the road, an artisan-producer will welcome you in his house to tell you with beautiful gestures and some simple sentences, his profession and his products.
